Welcome to Brian Mairs Consulting
Our Story

Consultants used to get a bad reputation - tell somebody you were a "consultant" was just another way of saying "out of work".
In early 1997, Brian was offered an opportunity with "The Mining Company", (later About.com) one of the few Internet information resources (Dot.Coms) to eventually survive the techno-crash of 2001.

This opportunity was to be a Guide - a face behind a web site that people could recognise and to whom they could feel some personal connection. This contracted association lasted from February 14, 1997 to September 25, 2001, when About.com made a corporate decision to streamline their operations.

During this period of time, we also contracted to a pilot project using qualified counsellors to provide employment counselling to people with disabilities across Canada (Workink). Brian Mairs Consulting provided both technical and procedural training for counsellors on-line, assisted with development of a web presence, and wrote numerous articles to assist employers and employees who are disabled.

Brian has been called upon to advocate for people who have a dispute with the BC provincial government, and to serve in the capacity as tribunal nominees and as a Chair in settling disputed between individuals and the BC Ministry of Human Resources.

Image As community-based advocates, we continue to assist people who are living on the edge of society due to racial prejudice, economic disadvantages, illness, and a variety of social phobias. In addition to the social work, Brian provides Internet design and personal counselling services, working towards positive solutions for those who are willing to help themselves.

Since the Spring of 2003 we have been associated with Skukamari Web Design in Kelowna BC. Sukamari Web Design is independantly owned and operated.

Web Page Development

We have the capability to create a web experience for you, set it up on a page, and maintain the site on a weekly basis if you choose.

Costs
This is not a charity organization, so there are costs involved which will be spelled out in a written contract and taylored to your requirements. If you want to 'ball-park' the costs of a straight forward site, start at $75 per page with a four page minimum ($300). This figure does not include the costs of hosting the site (starting at $75.00/year), or maintaining the site with periodic changes throughout the year. Contracted work can be customized to your requirements.
We offer a reasonable discount to not-for-profit organizations, and are open to barter for our services.

Contract
We will be pleased to discuss your vision for your website and develop a working agreement for you to review with your advisors before any work starts.

Feel free to contact us for more information.
